(Surakarta, April 7, 2023) Sheikh Zayed Mosque has become a new religious tourism destination that is often visited by the community, this mosque is located in Surakarta at Jl. Ahmad Yani No.128 Gilingan, Banjarsari District. The mosque was opened to the public starting Wednesday, March 1, 2023. This mosque has been inaugurated since November 14, 2022 by President Joko Widodo together with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 8000 square meter building is a replica of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Sheikh Zayed Mosque is built with two floors and features four minarets and one main dome. In total, there are 82 domes decorated with white alabaster stone in the Sheikh Zayed Solo Mosque. Overall, the mosque with shades of gold and white can accommodate up to 10 thousand worshipers. Meanwhile, the core building is estimated to be able to accommodate only 4 thousand people. By having the beauty of the architecture of the building, it makes this a special attraction for the community as well as tourists who come. Coupled with the Imam who chants the verses of the Qur’an melodiously during prayer makes the congregation feel comfortable when praying at this mosque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“One of them is because of the architecture, secondly, the prayer is more solemn because the Imam’s chanting is melodious, and thirdly because the air conditioner is cold,” said Pungki Febrian as one of the Jama’ah and visitors to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arrival of the month of Ramadan adds a different impression to the atmosphere of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, in this month of Ramadan, the ta’mir of the Sheikh Zayed mosque always organizes iftar together and also distributes ta’jil (food for breaking the fast) which is always in large portions. Thousands of worshipers flocked to the Sheikh Zayed Solo Grand Mosque during tarawih prayers. The Jama’ah who came not only came from Solo and its surroundings, but there were also worshipers who were willing to travel long distances from various cities such as Yogyakarta and even from Bekasi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The vibe is like in the middle east, this is the grandest mosque in Solo, maybe, it feels like outside the country, then the place is spacious, comfortable, good for hanging out or ngabuburit <\/em>and hunting takjil<\/em>” said Pungki Febrian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although open to the public, there are a number of rules that need to be known before visiting the Sheikh Zayed mosque. To perform isya and tarawih prayers in congregation at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, worshipers must first go through a metal detector. This inspection is useful to avoid unwanted things from happening, especially considering the size and number of worshipers who come to this mosque. After passing the security check, the worshipers seemed to rush to fill the beautiful mosque that had just opened to the public. Apart from inside the mosque, some worshipers were also seen holding their prayer mats on the porch to perform Isha and Tarawih prayers in congregation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jama’ah also admitted that they were quite happy and comfortable because the cleanliness of the mosque was always maintained, especially since the mosque is a place of worship for Muslims to carry out their obligations to worship the Almighty. The cleanliness of the mosque also makes the Jama’ah feel comfortable and happy when carrying out their prayer obligations as stated by one of the congregation of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “It’s very good, I appreciate it because the officers are responsive and alert, in every corner there are many officers who pass around on duty according to their respective job desks, and everything is neatly organized or structured from inside the mosque to outside the mosque, in the garden everything too, the rating is 9\/10” said Pungki Febrian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The existence of the Sheikh Zayed Surakarta Mosque is expected to not only attract religious tourists, but also remind the congregation who come to get closer to the Almighty by carrying out obligations as well as carrying out His recommendations.
