Surakarta, LPM Campus – President Joko Widodo and several state apparatus have now shown some blatant abuse of power regarding the presidential and legislative election process for 2024-2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK), it has been decided that there are serious ethical violations related to case number 90\/PUU-XXI\/2023 regarding changes to the age threshold regulations for presidential and vice presidential candidates which are considered to have clear political interests in them. The ruling was granted through the judge and then chairman of the Constitutional Court, Anwar Usman, who has a relationship as President Joko Widodo’s brother-in-law. The ruling came in a rush, issued 3 days before the registration of presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 elections. It was this controversial ruling that paved the way for 36-year-old Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the mayor of Solo, Joko Widodo’s eldest son, to contest the 2024 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, DKPP RI gave decisions on 4 court cases; 135-PKE-DKPP\/XXI\/2023, 136-PKE-DKPP\/XXI\/2023, 137-PKE-DKPP\/XXI\/2024, and 141-PKE-DKPP\/XXI\/2023 that the KPU chairman (Hasyim Asy’ari) and its members were proven to have committed ethical violations for processing Gibran as a vice presidential candidate where the technical rules for presidential elections in KPU Regulation Number 19 of 2023 had not been revised following the latest Constitutional Court decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, there were other violations such as the Secretary of the Indonesian Teachers Association as an ASN who invited a number of school principals to vote for election partner number 02 Prabowo-Gibran to the massive distribution of \u201cbantuan sosial\u201d in the form of rice, one of which was distributed directly by President Joko Widodo in front of the State Palace. Quoted from the Kompas article, Jusuf Kalla said “That’s the sub-district head’s job, don’t forget the more important state duties”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because of the many irregularities that have occurred, the Muhammadiyah Surakarta community warns several things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Political elites who are contesting must return to the value of power whose source is devotion to God and the noble values of the nation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The president and the political elite must restore democracy with national manners and ethics to realize general welfare and social justice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Government leaders and legal apparatus uphold the rule of law by not abusing the law for personal or group political and\/or economic interests. Execute the law indiscriminately and non-partisan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. KPU, Bawaslu, DKPP and judicial institutions, especially the Constitutional Court, to maintain professionalism, integrity and impartiality in order to realize elections that are fair and democratic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. The state civil apparatus and the TNI-POLRI must maintain neutrality and the obligation to serve all people without exception<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. The president as head of state and head of government must prioritize the interests of the nation and state above personal, family, and group interests in accordance with his oath of office as president and stop non-neutral political practices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. The people become independent and sovereign voters based on the principles of truth and virtue and respect each other’s choices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. The people reject money politics in any form, including state finances used for electoral purposes in the form of social assistance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    This edict is prepared in an academically responsible effort to carry out \u201camar ma\u2019ruf nahi munkar\u201d in the life of the state for the sake of a democratic, dignified and progressive Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
