Construction of the Griya Mahasiswa Facility is Almost Complete

After so many months of UKM-U being relocated to a temporary secretariat office due to the renovation of Griya Mahasiswa, finally 14 UMS UKMs will regain Griya Mahasiswa as a center for activities outside of lectures. The Griya Mahasiswa UMS Renovation Project which began in April 2022 is now still under construction, which has reached 95% of the target.
At the beginning of construction, this renovation project did cause chaos because information from the Student Bureau regarding the transfer of assets was late to the UKM at the university so that it led to the temporary relocation of UKM assets to the temporary secretariat which was too sudden, but finally this project can run smoothly according to the target for 10 months and will be completed in March 2023.
The construction of Griya Mahasiswa will have several facilities that support the sustainability of UKM activities.
“There will be four floors including offices and places for UKM-U such as BEM, DPM, and other university UKM. In addition, Griya Mahasiswa also provides a large meeting room, elevator, and pantry that can be used for UKM students.” Said Dr. Ihwan Susila as Vice Rector III.
The distribution of the use of Griya Mahasiswa for UKM-U will be sought to be divided fairly based on the number of UKM that are active until now.
More specifically about the Griya Mahasiswa building area, reported by the UMS website, the building area reaches 3,626 m2 with 400m2 for sports facilities, 110 m2 for stage space, 40m2 for 3 rooms that can be used together, and the rest for large meeting rooms, prayer rooms, toilets, and others. Around 100 computers will also be provided to support the CBT facility.
This fairly adequate facility is expected to help improve student academic or non-academic achievements which can then increase the value and exposure of UMS as one of the best private universities in Indonesia.
Dr. Ihwan Susila as Vice Chancellor III hopes that Griya Mahasiswa can help UKM at UMS become a forum for these UKM to develop more and will become a second home in the context of program design and evaluation.
