(Surakarta, 12/2/23) This Car Free Day activity seems different compared to previous weeks, because since 07.00 am the community began to crowd Jalan Diponegoro (in front of the KFC Outlet), Keprabon village, Banjarsari District, Solo City. This was due to the Solo jenang festival Pre-event to celebrate Solo’s 278th anniversary. The Jenang Solo Pre-event was held as an event that introduces the public that Solo has delicious traditional culinary delights that will be showcased at the Solo Jenang Festival event on February 17.

In this Jenang Solo Pre-event activity, the jenang makers did a large cooking of jenang using a large pan as an illustration of the actual event which will be held along Jalan Ngarsopuro and there are 110 jenang stands from various school institutions and so on for sharing jenang. For the success of this event, preparations for the event were made in collaboration with jenang makers who are part of Community Jenang Sukoharjo, and soldiers (DENBEKANG/4.B SKA) as a symbol of synergy that jenang belongs to the Solo citizens who are made and shared with the citizens.

“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, we only held a simple festival at Omah Sinten but still blusuk in a pavilion. Now that the government has allowed it, we can open 110 jenang stands,” said Heru Mataya as the Creative Team of the Solo Jenang Festival.

The Jenang Festival Pre-Event also attracted the attention and enthusiasm of the community.
“The people have not even finished making it yet. So it can be seen that this jenang is a favorite of the people because it is cheap and healthy,” he added.

There are also a number of residents, especially visitors to the Solo Car Free Day (CFD) Slamet Riyadi, who are interested in the presence of the Pre-event.
“We just found out from the banner that was installed, but just passing by, we didn’t know that there would be an event,” said one of the visitors, Agnez and Nowo.

The existence of these activities also made visitors interested in to come back later to attend the Solo Jenang Festival event on February 17.
The Solo Jenang Festival Creative Team also said that “We hope that on February 17, people will come to ngarsopuro to see the process of making jenang, enjoy the jenang made by the community to be shared with others. It’s Solo’s city anniversary, let’s celebrate it with joy,” Heru Mataya told LPM Campus again.
