Unlocking Entrepreneurship Opportunities through PKM: Insights from National-Level Seminar

The National Seminar and Entrepreneurship Talk Show titled “Get Ready to be an Entrepreneur”
was held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the Moh. Djazman UMS Auditorium by a
committee led by Sigit Yulianto as the Vice President of BEM and Alvin as the Chairman of the
Committee. The aim of the event was to develop entrepreneurial opportunities through PKM.
The committee felt that student guidance on PKM was still lacking and wanted students to be
able to engage in entrepreneurship through PKM. The seminar aimed to develop PKM in the
field of entrepreneurship because there is still a lack of student-led entrepreneurship development
in the campus environment.
Initially, the target audience for this seminar was limited to UMS students only, but it was
expanded to the general public due to the availability of 300 seats in the campus auditorium.
However, another factor that made the target audience general was the pursuit of the certificate
value required for the life skill course. If participating or organizing a national level seminar, the
certificate value achievement for the course was high, which was 20 points.
The committee invited Mr. Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, as the
keynote speaker, but faced difficulties in inviting him, so he could only deliver his material via
video. Mr. Sandiaga Uno was invited because he was a minister who could provide an
understanding of the entrepreneurial world. In addition to Mr. Sandiaga Uno, the committee also
invited Mr. Gibran to attend this seminar, but he was unable to attend and was replaced by Mr.
Suranto, a lecturer from the UMS Vocational School.
“I started with a concern that when we see the number of populations, there are more or less a
certain percentage that can be considered as a developed country, but Indonesia has not been able
to meet that standard. Therefore, I believe there are still many opportunities to broaden our
knowledge of entrepreneurship. I am also convinced that the essence of this agenda is not just an
opportunity to gain knowledge or to obtain a certificate, but there is knowledge that can be
realized in it. This is why this event was held, to encourage friends who are interested in business
opportunities. We will discuss these opportunities and the challenges faced by young people. We
want to prove that young people can also contribute to the economic development of Indonesia,”
said Sigit Yulianto.
This event focused on the development of PKM with various provisions within it. However,
depending on the speakers who delivered the material, they may choose to discuss topics outside
of PKM. The committee itself directed the event towards PKM with various provisions within it,
but if the speakers wanted to discuss PKM, it could be conveyed. The main point depends on the
speaker.
It is hoped that this seminar will serve as a learning and discussion platform for entrepreneurship
opportunities, as well as providing insight and understanding for students and the general public
about PKM.
