ONCE AGAIN, THE RIOTS BY FOOTBALL SUPPORTERS AROUND UMS RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF SEVERAL PARTIES.

(Surakarta, 19th of September 2023) Suof Fantastic Event (SFE) is a sports event organised by the Sports UKM of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The focus of SFE this time is the futsal tournament, which was attended by high schools and vocational schools throughout Solo Raya SFE was held on 15-16 September 2023 at GOR Campus 2, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This event was attended by more than 10 schools competing for the Dean’s Trophy of the Faculty of Psychology, University Muhammadiyah Surakarta 2023.
However, there was a riot between supporters in one of the matches on Friday, 15 September 2023. Reyhan Lado Nabiha (Psychology, 2020) as the chairman of the SFE committee gave an explanation about the beginning of the riot.
“The riot itself occurred because of the overload of supporters who came, actually the rules have been limited but there are those who come in large numbers.” Saturday (16/9/2023).
The ticketing system for this event was pre-sale and on the spot, with a limit of 100 tickets per school, but unexpectedly the number of spectators exceeded the capacity. The committee made maximum efforts, deploying several security guards and requesting the assistance of the police, but the efforts made are still not optimal.
The riot between supporters occurred outside the campus environment at around 14.00 WIB. The losses incurred due to this riot are the responsibility of the SFE committee, and the continuation of the event is still being coordinated with the authorities. This postponement decision resulted in disappointment from the supporters, especially on the team that won the match, in this incident one security guard became a victim of a throw from the riot so that the officer was rushed to MMC to be given further treatment.
Asked about coordination with the security services, the committee chairman said that they had received prior approval from the relevant security forces, but that in fact there was no coordination on the day of the riot, although some committee members had been assigned to guard the designated areas.
The committee will coordinate with the official team and the players regarding the provision of a press conference.
“This is an evaluation material from our committee so that in the future nothing similar will happen.” Close Reyhan Lado Nabiha (Psychology, 2020). Saturday (16/9/2023).
According to the security guard, this riot happened because of the lack of coordination between the committee and the security.
The committee is considered inadequate in anticipating the possible number of supporters who could enter. With regard to ticket sales, the source received information that there were people who sold tickets outside the committee’s ticket system by increasing the face value in order to make a personal profit.
Despite mediation and ticket refunds, many spectators still felt aggrieved. This was seen as another factor that triggered the riot.
The source explained that security only stopped the event and did not break it up. This was done on the orders of the direct leader (BAU) because the situation had been uncontrollable since the morning and was getting worse. The committee is expected to find other alternatives to deal with the situation, especially as the security forces were in a dilemma regarding the escalating situation.
The committee’s decision to cancel the match added to the chaos and disappointment of the winning school.
When asked about the continuation of the postponement, security asked to confirm this directly with the committee, as during the riot they had only received information from some supporters that the event was over.
