UMS Held Wayang Kulit Performance with Dalang Ki Bayu Aji Pamungkas Anom Suroto
Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) preserves Javanese culture by holding Wayang Kulit performance with Dalang Ki Bayu Aji Pamungkas Anom Suroto. This cultural event was one of the series of UMS 64th Anniversary. Related to the theme that was close to the convening of the 48th Muktamar of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiah, the play Wahyu Cakraningrat was taken. The performance was held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 19.00 WIB at the GOR Campus 2 UMS and was opened to the public. The Wayang Kulit performance attracted a lot of attention from both internal and external campuses and the event also provided door prizes in the form of five bicycles for the lucky participants.
According to the secretary to the Chancellor of UMS, Prof. Dr. Anam Sutopo, M. Hum, in the play Wahyu Cakraningrat, it would be told that 3 knights namely Lesmono Mandrakumara, Raden Sombo Putra, and Raden Abimayu fought to get the revelation. Wahyu Cakraningrat itself was a title. “This revelation will unite only with person who are able to serve the people, uphold honesty, provide an example, a sense of security, comfort, and peace to the people, give affection to the people, have trustworthy behavior, and bind the people together regardless of background, religion, race and culture, and care for the environment,”. Seeing that philosophy, the leadership character which was simple, strong, and tough produces achievements and will make UMS enlightening, superior, and global. “We hope that in the future UMS will be more advanced,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si hoped that the Wayang Kulit performance with the play Wahyu Cakraningrat can be an inspiration. “Hopefully this wayang event will inspire all of us, and of course the most important thing is that we can be successful in the Muktamar. All of them, even though they are not members of Muhammadiyah, we also ask for the success of the 48th Muktamar on November 18-20,” hoped Sofyan Anif.
