Dr. Zakir Abdul Karim Naik was born on October 18, 1965, in Mumbai, India. He is a doctor with an MBBS degree from the University of Mumbai, who later became a well-known international preacher from India, renowned for his logical, scientific, and interfaith comparative approach to interfaith preaching. In 1991, Dr. Zakir Naik decided to leave his medical career and founded the Islamic Research Foundation as a platform to convey the message of Islam and explain its teachings. This initiative gained further momentum in 2006 when he launched Peace TV, a television station broadcasting religious content 24 hours a day, reaching millions of viewers across various countries.

Zakir Naik has dedicated his life to defending and promoting Islam through a scientific and logical approach. He frequently delivers lectures and interfaith debates. Some of the topics he often addresses include scientific evidence in the Qur’an, and logical flaws in the holy scriptures of other religions. Dr. Zakir Naik was inspired by Ahmed Deedat, who had been active in the field of da’wah for over 40 years. Sheikh Ahmed Deedat, a renowned orator worldwide who spoke about Islam and interfaith comparison, once referred to Dr. Zakir as “Deedat Plus”.

Dr. Zakir Naik has delivered lectures in over 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. He is scheduled to embark on a preaching tour across several cities in Indonesia, with his first event scheduled for Tuesday, June 8, 2025, at the Auditorium Building of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta in Solo City.

According to Dondy, Dr. Zakir Naik will continue his tour to Gajayana Stadium in Malang on July 10. On July 12–13, Dr. Zakir Naik will be in Bandung, specifically at Tritan Field. The tour will conclude in Jakarta from July 18–20 at Aldiron Football Field in Pancoran, South Jakarta. This is not his first time in Indonesia. In 2017, he conducted a preaching tour in several cities in Indonesia, including Yogyakarta, Gontor, Makassar, and Bekasi.

Dr. Zakir Naik’s lecture is open to participants from various religious backgrounds. Although the event is primarily intended for Muslims, the organizing committee also warmly welcomes non-Muslim attendees. In fact, special arrangements have been made for non-Muslim participants, including front-row seating right behind the VIP guests and the first opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session. The venue was chosen at the Auditorium of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) due to its large capacity, which can accommodate up to 10,000 people. As of now, more than 5,000 participants have registered online.

In his lecture, Dr. Zakir Naik discussed the theme “The Programming Towards Righteousness,” which emphasizes that Islamic teachings including the ritual of prayer are designed to shape and guide individuals to stay on the path of righteousness. In this context, prayer is not merely an obligatory ritual, but a means to cultivate discipline, strengthen one’s connection with Allah, and improve one’s character and mindset.

He also explained that by understanding the meanings of the prayer recitations especially Surah Al-Fatihah a Muslim can better comprehend the essence of worship and recognize that each phrase offers guidance for leading a righteous life.

“And if we want to reflect on Surah Al-Fatihah, it can help us focus. In my opinion, prayer is a program toward truth,” said Dr. Zakir Naik. He stated that his message is particularly directed toward educated Muslim youth who may be beginning to question their faith, as well as to address common misconceptions about Islam.
