TBM Gyrus UMS Held Blood Donation
On September 22, 2022, TBM (Medical Assistance Team) Gyrus UMS (Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta) held a blood donation activity with the theme “Lifesavers; Together to help, help together”. This blood donation activity was held on campus 4 of UMS (R.AR Fachrudin 3rd floor). TBM Gyrus is an UKM (Student Activity Unit) engaged in community service and medical assistance at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This blood donation activity is actually a routine agenda that is carried out every year. Ibnu Suhartono as the head of the blood donor event said “TBM Gyrus realizes that blood in the health sector is needed everywhere, both in hospitals and everywhere because the urgency is very high, we try to distribute it to friends from the UMS scope to share their blood with others”.
Information related to the registration of this blood donation event was disseminated through the distribution of pamphlets to each faculty that was still within the scope of UMS. “For registration, we have distributed pamphlets to each faculty, only the scope of UMS. We only distribute the existing pamphlets in each faculty, so in the pamphlet there is a link for the gform itself, so later on just fill out the gform and wait for further information,” said Ibnu. At this event, the participants were quite enthusiastic because of the registration flow which was quite easy to follow, thus increasing the registrant’s achievement.
“For the steps, those are by filling out the gform – doing screening (tension, blood pressure, etc.) – checking hemoglobin meets or not – taking blood”
For the participation of UMS students, they were enthusiastic about participating in this event, because the number of registrants has reached the target of the TBM Gyrus. “Alhamdulillah, the registrants have exceeded the target, but the blood drawn has almost reached the target and for now there are some participants who are still waiting for screening whether they pass the examination or not,” he said. However, the event which is held annually is only able to cover the scope of UMS, but it is possible to open a wider scope if the human resources are sufficient.
“For now, we are only able to cover the scope of UMS, but if in the future the human resources are sufficient and willing, we can open it wider, including the surrounding community,” added Ibnu Suhartono.
The blood donation event is a positive and humanitarian-focused event. The head of the organizer hoped that enthusiasm from other faculties would also be willing to participate, and outside parties could help make this event bigger. “We hope that friends from other faculties will be more enthusiastic to participate and we hope that outside parties such as PMI (Indonesian Red Cross) and others can help us to make this event even bigger,” said Ibnu Suhartono.
