The Enthusiasm of Community in Welcoming UMS 64th Anniversary with Healthy Walk
Ahead of the 48th Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Congresses, UMS (Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta) held a Healthy Walk as a series of events for the UMS family folk party to welcome the 64th anniversary. This activity was held on October 16, 2022, at the UMS Edutorium. This event was only open to the big family of UMS such as lecturers, staff, UKM (Student Activity Unit), and students. It was estimated that the total number of participants who took part reached 10,000 when viewed from the production of the t-shirts because there were several lecturers and employees who brought their families (1 family of 5 members). At this event, there were dozens of door prizes provided such as bicycles, motorcycles, and electronic devices. The prizes were given according to the lottery that had been given in the voucher and selected at random.
The healthy walking route started from the main door on the North side of the UMS Edutorium, and then head North to Adi Sucipto Street to the West 1000 m, turn left towards Bougenville Street, then turn left towards the UMS Faculty of Medicine 500 m past the back of Syariah Hotel, from the UMS faculty of medicine building, going 300 m to UMS Edutorium and finish.
In addition, one of the healthy walking participants who is the wife of a civil engineering lecturer at UMS commented on the healthy walking route, “In the future, the route may be shortened because there are elderly participants and some families who bring babies,” she said.
Although only the family of UMS was invited, the committee had also prepared an event that later can be attended by people outside UMS, that is the Wayang Kulit performance by Ki Bayu Aji Pamungkas. No less interesting, in this Healthy Walk, Prof. Anam Sutopo as the chairman of the committee revealed that one of the agendas of the next 64th UMS Anniversary series was the holding of a South Korean campus at UMS and a UMS campus in South Korea. It made Twitter trending No.1 on that day.
“In the future, UMS will develop national and international achievements, and its contribution to the state, UMS, and the Association will continue to grow so that it can produce a golden generation, intelligent, but faithful, devoted, and with character,” said Prof. Anam Sutopo about his hopes after the Healthy Walk event
