(Solo, February 17th, 2023) To celebrate Solo’s 278th anniversary. The municipal government and the Ministry of Education and Culture held the 278th anniversary event at “Solo Safari”.

According to Mrs. Widyasukma (SDN Munggung Banjarsari teacher) “This year’s Solo City Anniversary celebration is very different from previous years. Especially in 2022, the Solo City Anniversary celebration was not as lively as it is now, because of the covid pandemic so that the participants were only certain people”.

For the Solo City Anniversary in 2023, the Solo City Government and the Ministry of Education and Culture invited participants from elementary, junior high school, senior high school, and university representatives in Solo. In addition to the participants, the location of the Solo City Anniversary opening ceremony is interesting because it was held at Solo Safari. Solo Safari itself is a new tourist destination in Solo which was just opened in January.

“The choice of Solo Safari in the opening of the Solo City Anniversary this time aims to build Solo’s tourism branding,” said Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The selected ceremony participants were represented by their schools, they wore traditional clothes that represent their respective regions so that the scene of the anniversary opening ceremony did not seem rigid. After the ceremony, they were allowed to enter Solo Safari for free and look around the new zoo.

Not only that, according to the Head of the Surakarta City Tourism and Culture Office, “in commemorating Solo’s 278th anniversary, apart from Solo Safari, there will also be a Jenang Festival in Ngarsopuro and Kirab Boyong Kedaton”.

In the celebration of Solo’s anniversary, apart from the City Government and the Ministry of Education and Culture, the TNI Kodim also assisted to help secure and secure the events that would take place. The Opening Ceremony of Solo’s birthday was completed at 10.00 am and went smoothly and solemnly without any obstacles.
