Sukoharjo, LPM Campus –UMS Students held a hearing to demand the Perperators of sexual harassment by against students in the campus environment on Wednesday (07/17). The number of people brought to conduct hearings around 500 students. The mass gathering point was in the GOR Campus 2, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS). After that, the students moved to the front of the Siti Walidah building. Initially they were only in front of the Siti Walidah maim building and in the end they forced their way into the inside.

The audiences was quite tough and was attended by several officials of UMS including Vice Rector 3 of Student Affairs and Alumni Prof. Ihwan Susila, S.E., M.SI., Ph.D. and also Vice Rector 4 of Human Resources and Information Systems Prof. Dr. dr. Em Sutrisna, M.Kes. The audiences began at 15.30 local time in front of the Siti Walidah building, then at around 15.50 the audience began to enter the Siti Walidah building. In the middle of the discussion, students shouted the Rector to attend the discussion. Finally, the Rector of UMS, Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si. came down from his room to the masses on the Lobby floor.

According to Gilang Rahmat Allam as the Governor of BEM FH UMS, the students demanded to ratify the guidelines containing victims of sexual harassment get any compensation and for the perpetrators to be given the right sanctions so that the guidelines do not have a disability there must be student representatives who participate by changing the decree to include students in the task force team. If within 3×24 hours the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta does not respond then we will continue to press and if until August 17, 2024 there is still no clarification from the Rector then the students will go down again with a larger mass. The hope of the governor of BEM FH in the future will be smooth and can work well with the university

The Chairperson of the PPKS UMS Task Force, Marisa Kurnianingsih S.H., M.H., M.KN. said that she really appreciated that the students who held the hearing activity were very responsive to this case and so far the demands of the students were still reasonable and helped the task force team. The development of the victim’s case has been contacted and has met with the task force team. The victim has also analyzed whether she needs psychological or spiritual assistance, until now the victim stated that she doesn’t need this assistance even she shown Her own meeting with the victim was on Saturday (07/13) after the victim returned to Solo. PPKS focuses on protecting victims of sexual harassment. The PPKS team is updating the structure for complaining to make it easier for UMS students to access because previously it was on the web called SMHWS. Before it went viral, the study program had already handled it by replacing lecturers and offering counseling.

Recently, students pressure seems to get a quite nice result even with controversial decision. On Saturday (07/20) UMS officials with PPKS task force and Diciplinary team published the press release due to a certain investigation and analysis of these cases according to the Code of ethics violation by “Fired the first case lecturer perpetrator is dismissed as lecturer. The second case lecturer (perpetrator) concerned is dismissed from the structural position, dismissed as a lecturer and transferred to administrative staff for 2 years.”

The statement for 2nd preparator causes a big question for public and student who were willing for the final statement given by the officials to give the right sanctions for preparator. Since the preparator seems to be still “protected” at the campus area as administrative staff for 2 years from now, just keep safe for anyone. “No Viral, No Justice” seems not being right sentence before, but because of this case, it shown that another preparators might be still hidden out there.
